Hype Cycle Exchange trading screen: a price ticker, buy and sell buttons for six stocks, a trading timer and a player's account value.

Hype Cycle Exchange

A live, multiplayer stock-market game for a classroom. The host runs timed trading rounds from a projector while everyone trades on their own phone or laptop with a game code. Each round reveals a year of news that moves the prices, and one company doesn't make it.

  • Daily Challenge: a new solo market every day, the same for everyone, with shareable scores and streaks
  • Buy, sell and short six stocks, including an index fund
  • Timed rounds, hidden results and a live leaderboard
  • Capital gains taxes: short-term vs long-term, with loss carryforward
  • News and Markets tabs with charts of every stock
  • A game-show podium finale with music and sound effects
  • Decades Edition: real companies from 1980–2008 in disguise, with real economic briefings each round and their true names revealed at the end

Players join with a 5-letter code from the host. Hosting needs a secret results file (one for the AI Hype edition, one for the Decades Edition), which isn't posted here.

01 · JOIN

Get a code

The host creates a game on the projector. Everyone joins from their phone with the code and a team name.

02 · TRADE

Beat the clock

Each round is one year. Buy what you think will rise, short what you think will fall, and watch out for taxes.

03 · REVEAL

Read the news

The host reveals the year's headlines and new prices. After seven years, the podium crowns the winner.

Boxed title screen: the word Boxed drawn inside a box, a contest answer sheet with filled-in bubbles, and three ways to play: Daily five, Practice and Live game.
